Getting the most from it

Use a lip brush, not a fingertip: it gives you a defined edge and stops the pans from picking up oil. Build in thin layers — one pass looks like a stain, two gives full opacity. For an everyday version of the darker shades, press the colour on with your finger and blot, so it reads as a tint rather than a full lip.
