Why a mini set is worth it

Full-size lipsticks are a gamble when you are trying a new shade family. At 2.5 ml each of these lasts a couple of months of regular wear, which is long enough to learn whether a brick red or a cool mauve actually suits you before you commit to a full tube. It also travels well — the whole box weighs less than two normal lipsticks.

Getting a clean line

Blot lips dry first; liquid formulas skid on balm. Draw the outline with the tip of the wand, fill in from the centre outwards, and leave it a full minute to set before pressing the lips together. Going back over a half-set liquid lipstick is what causes patchiness.
